Following on from the successful Cross-Atlantic collaboration Terminal Illness, producer Endemic links up with Nottingham emcee, Cappo, to front the Needle Drop E.P. Featuring fellow local legends Scorsayzee, Lee Ramsay and London luminaries, Cyrus Malachi and Iron Braydz, this E.P. would be best described as a brisk walk through an inner city shoot out.
Clocking in at slim and fat-free twenty-five minutes, this project knocks from top to bottom. Hard beats and hard rhymes are all that is on offer here. No preservatives or additives. Five tracks is all that is needed for Cappo and friends to get their point across. There is not one weak cut to be found here but the gem of the bunch is “Crumbs” which sounds like something that could have slotted in snugly on Ghostface's Supreme Clientele. Cappo aims for the neck and threatens to “stifle the mic blasphemers” who can't “put a line to a three striped shirt or Adidas”.
If this is just a glimpse into what Endemic and Cappo have lined up for the future then a full length album would not only be welcomed but embraced. However, whilst we wait for that full course meal, should it ever come, there really is nothing wrong with this quick fix. - Reviewed by Christopher Mitchell
